On February 10, 2008 some of Central Wisconsin's finest bands united to help benefit Deb Musch and Anita Plantico (mother and daughter) in their time of need at The Bar in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. They were renters in the town of Grant that did not have renters insurance and needed help to recoup and recover from their total loss.

Weavils' "Rain" in the Studio
Big THANKS to Dave Schrader

1/7/8
We had an EXCELLENT session with Marc Golde at Rock Garden Studios in Appleton this past Saturday cutting The Beatles' "Rain" for a CD entitled "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Mike" which will be available at Mike Boyle's Benefit at Waverly Beach in Menasha on Friday 2/22/8.
We did three takes and went the the first as it had more energy and just felt right.
John got to play a REAL B-3 though a Leslie and then a REAL grand piano while
Dean played on an AMAZINGLY INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL drum kit!
Geppy was the harmony KING as he nailed ALL backing vocals, putting up a Rundgre-esque wall of vocals and holding an amazing closing note for 16 bars to FLOOR all in the room!
Jeff nailed guitar and vocal lines right off the bat.
Rough mixes are in hand and we are excited about the finished product.

Unfortunately The Weavils will NOT be on the bill for the benefit. Instead this will include the 'Big Three' in Appleton,
Vic Ferrari, Boogie and the Yoyos, and Boxkar.

Due to some personal constrictions, The Weavils will do VERY FEW SHOWS this year so catch what you can.
This does NOT mean the band is splitting but just taking it easy this year...
THANKS for your continued interest, patience, and support.

changed password, reported, and hopefully this won't happen again (yeah right).
i/we apologize to anyone who got spammed in this effort by imbiciles with nothing else to do.
all appears fine again...be alerted and DON'T let this happen to you. it came as a comment from an approved friend stating that myspace had terminated their account and to check one of two clicks to see why. this takes one to a log-in page that was NOT a real myspace page, although it sure looked like one.
i believe it was www.login.myspace.com...a false front for porn bulletined from my/our page!
THANKS for the many 'heads-up's, much appreciated.

---------------------------------------------------------------

This Friday, October 21, 2005, Wisconsin's favorite psychedelic blues rock
band returns to Wisconsin Rapids for a CD Release Party at Rapids' only
Irish Pub, Mulligan's (212 W. Grand Ave.).

The Weavils, which have been together since 1992, will be celebrating the
release of their sixth CD, a double disc entitled Live at Cornstock 2003.
Recorded live at their favorite festival in Sugar Bush, WI - Cornstock -
by GIZZMO and mixed and mastered with the talents and super-technology of
Madison's Jim Newhouser at Studio Earth, this new CD, their sixth release,
represents the band at their best. The band has been a headlining
performer at the festival for ten years and always feels relaxed and
confident there so they decided to multi-track the 2003 show, with rave
results. Sonically superior to any of their prior releases, this is their
best CD and exemplifies the power and energy of their live show.

"We always feel so great at Cornstock, due to their overwhelming
generosity and constant support of the band, that we decided to do a
professional recording that summer", said frontman and guitarist Jeff
Gauss, a Wisconsin Rapids native that recently moved back to town. Gauss
is also the lead guitarist for one of Rapids' favorite bands, The Lizardz.

The Weavils are so excited about the release of their new CD that they are
bringing in the talents of the Purple Penquin and Fish Audio Productions.
Purple Penquin brings a sixties-style lightshow, complete with overhead
projections and water-and-oil gels, has worked with the band for years and
is psyched for his Wisconsin Rapids debut. "Jeff has always told me what
fun a Rapids crowd can be so i am ready for a good time", adds The
Penquin. Fish Audio Productions' owner Dean Fisher is new to tha Rapids
area and looking forward to the exposure his awesome sound system and
over 23 years of experience in Southcentral Wisconsin will provide to
listeners. "Fish" says, "I am excited about working with The Weavils again
and hoping to reach some new listeners and musicians in the Wisconsin
Rapids/Stevens Point area." Fisher worked with the band on their first
studio recordings on their debut CD, "Make It Happen" in Janesville, WI in
1997.

Mulligan's owner, Mike "Bingo" Peterson, also offered up some comments. "I
welcome back The Weavils with open arms as their last show here in spring
was a huge success. Their frontman Jeff is my newest bartender and that
adds so much to the excitement that we have decided to throw a free show
(no cover charge)."

Drummer Dean Tassone, an Appleton native, stated, "We always enjoy coming
to Wisconsin Rapids as it is our home in Central Wisconsin and the crowds
are always into our grooves." Their amazing keyboardist, John Finucan from
the Janesville area and the band's initial contact with Fisher, adds,
"Rapids has been great to us so we decided this show would be an
appropriate venue to do a CD Release Party." Rounding out the band on its
high-energy bottom end is Oshkosh native Mike Gephart. "We have found that
the Rapids' crowds like to dance," adds Gephart, "so we plan to keep 'em
moving with a diverse mix of dancable grooves and rhythms."

The Weavils' show at Mulligan's starts at 10pm and is free (no cover charge).

ANOTHER FRONT-PAGER for GGG AT JAMBASE!

With a warm summer just around the corner, the bus is up and running again! Its next stop will be the 2005 Grateful Garcia Gathering being held July 29th - August 1st. The 3G's will celebrate and pay tribute to the life, art, and music of legendary guitarist Jerry Garcia on what would be his 63rd birthday. The gathering will once again take place at the picturesque NCN-North Campground located in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. The campground features 60-plus acres of brilliant surroundings with tall trees that shade your camp site. For your fishing, swimming, and water sports pleasures we have a five-acre natural spring fed lake with sandy beaches, modern bathroom facilities with showers, and other luxurious accommodations.

Campers will be able to have campfires at each individual campsite and firewood is available at the campground! There will be plenty of awesome vendors on-site for you to check out, a kind and friendly atmosphere, and a stellar musical lineup for all to enjoy! In addition, there is going to be a memorabilia "Jerry Garcia Shrine" near the main stage. All attendees are encouraged to bring pictures, candles, ticket stubs, tie-dyes, old posters with Jerry's signature, any and all related items related to Jerry Garcia, or the Grateful Dead! You can place it at the shrine for all to enjoy!

Festival attendees will be able to enjoy the sounds of 21 local and regional bands who were influenced or inspired by The Grateful such as Terrapin Flyer (headliner for Sunday night), Del Mar, Waterband (two nights), Fat Maw Rooney, Boney Fingers, Hooch, Minglewood,
The Weavils,
Sunset Elixir, Cosmic Railroad, The Green Situation, The Northern Pines Band, T.U.G.G., Bar Tab Band, UnderBelly Baghdad Scuba Review, Groovulous Glove, Electric Medicine, and more!

These bands will all be performing their own original tunes, plus a few covers of The Grateful Dead. All this, in tribute and honoring of Jerry Garcia, which will also mark the 10th Anniversary of his untimely passing. Singer/Songwriter Drew Scott, who has frequently opened for Merl Saunders, will emcee the event and perform in between set-ups and take-downs of the performers. In addition, there will be a very special appearance by Frank "Jerry" Chavez as host for this exciting weekend of camping, music, friendships, harmony and love! The 3G's is thrilled to have "Jerry", as he will bring the spirit of Jerry Garcia to life right in front of your very eyes!

The real thrill of the Grateful Garcia Gathering is the return of Melvin Seals & JGB for TWO NIGHTS! The 3G's just wouldn't be complete without a musical cohort and true friend of Jerry's to be part of these wonderful festivities. Melvin Seals, longtime friend, vocalist and organist of JGB and The Jerry Garcia Band from 1977-1995, will headline the first two nights of the gathering, July 29-30. Also, we are very pleased to have Chicago's own Grateful Dead maestros, Terrapin Flyer headlining on July 31. Terrapin Flyer has performed with musical icons such as former Grateful Dead keyboardist Vince Welnick, Jerry Garcia Band organist Melvin Seals, Grateful Dead Hour host/song-writer/singer David Gans, Grammy award winning blues harpist Sugar Blue, and many others. Terrapin Flyer is composed of members from Chicago's finest jam bands, most notably three members of Chicago's premier bluegrass band Cornmeal, Kris Nowak on guitar/vocals, Dave Burlingame banjo/vocals & JP Nowak on drums/vocals. The vision of Terrapin Flyer is to keep the spirit of Grateful Dead music alive by bringing the music to a new level with every performance. Festival attendees can expect a few surprises, as Terrapin Flyer jams well into what would be Jerry Garcia's 63rd birthday after midnight on August 1, 2005. This marathon show will put the exclamation point on a spectacular weekend of pure fun and harmony, all paying tribute to our Captain Tripps, Jerry Garcia!

Early Bird Special Weekend Passes for the Grateful Garcia Gathering are on sale are for $55 now through the end of May, $60 in June, and $65 until July 28th. Tickets will also be available at the gate. We are also proud to announce that this year a portion of the ticket sales and merchandise will be donated to Camp Gray.

For complete ticket information and more details, go online to the Grateful Garcia Gathering web site: http://www.gratefulgarciagathering.com and while you're over there, listen to a couple of MP3s from last years show on the 3G's web site!
