Cleartone Strings
Testimonial
I have tried many different strings over the decades of playing and performing (live and in the studio) but have never found something that could bend so well and stay in tune over multiple shows, until i found Cleartone. I never really paid much attention to the brand of strings i used until i discovered these. The way they hold their tone and tuning, even while bending WAY outside the normal realm, continues to amaze me. The durability - whether in a smokey bar, basement studio, outdoors, or a dusty theatre - is astounding! They also seem to last three times as long as other brands i have used! The residue from my hands has destroyed strings in the past but this has not been a problem with Cleartone, and that is something that amazes me.
I have also found that it takes A LOT to break them (and i have tried)!
They also carry great tone from low to high - and that's quite incredible.

THANK YOU for making such a high-quality product and teaching me that string brand can make a HUGE difference.

If you don't think John McCain is just as dangerous in the White House as George W. Bush, think again.
McCain will not reverse the foreign policy mistakes of George Bush.  He is content to leave us in Iraq, saying it'd be "fine by me" if we were in Iraq for another 100 years; he is rash on using military force with Iran.  He overplays the military card and doesn't seem to appreciate that the real strength of the nation lies in our economy and in our values.
This IS the guy who sang "Bomb bomb bomb Bomb bomb Iran"

Apparently he finds bankrupting the country and soldier deaths funny...to me that is SICK!

Nixon Was Bad. These Guys Are Worse.

January 6, 2008
...Bush and Cheney are clearly guilty of numerous impeachable offenses. They have repeatedly violated the Constitution. They have transgressed national and international law. They have lied to the American people time after time. Their conduct and their barbaric policies have reduced our beloved country to a historic low in the eyes of people around the world. These are truly "high crimes and misdemeanors," to use the constitutional standard. From the beginning, the Bush-Cheney team's assumption of power was the product of questionable elections that probably should have been officially challenged -- perhaps even by a congressional investigation....

Fascist America, in 10 easy steps
From Hitler to Pinochet and beyond, history shows there are certain steps that any would-be dictator must take to destroy constitutional freedoms. And, argues Naomi Wolf, George Bush and his administration seem to be taking them all
1. Invoke a terrifying internal and external enemy
2. Create a gulag
3. Develop a thug caste
4. Set up an internal surveillance system
5. Harass citizens' groups
6. Engage in arbitrary detention and release
7. Target key individuals
8. Control the press
9. Dissent equals treason
10. Suspend the rule of law

Globalist agenda spilt
North American Union begins!
i've been speaking of the AMERO for quite some time...to looks of blank disbelief and questions of sanity.
Former Mexican President, Vicente Fox , spilt the beans at last, confirming the long-time globalist agenda of our
hemisphere and the free trade zone linking us all, the ALCA.
The People's Republic of China, long lauded by America's enemies as the world's next economic power, will be the country that will force the creation of the `North American Union' (NAU). "People in the U.S. are going to be hit hard," says Bob Chapman publisher of The International Forecaster newsletter. "In the severe recession we are entering now, Bush will argue that we have to form a North American Union to compete with the Euro."

"Creating the amero," Chapman explained, "will be presented to the American public as the administration's solution for dollar recovery. In the process of creating the amero, the Bush administration just abandons the dollar."
*with this union comes the END of the united states*
United States citizens must become aware of the advancement of the agenda to launch
the nations of North America, including the U.S., into a continental union similar to the European Union
...and even sooner than thought, get ready folks this ol' world is gonna hit the shitter real soon!

5 YEARS
in Iraq...the 2nd longest US 'war' [that isn't a war (or is it?).]
WHAT A BUNCH OF SHIT!
here's a video that sums up most of the lies and devastation and bankruptcy of US
here's what the monkey says
here's what Lord Vader says, "SO! I think we cannot be blown off course by the fluctuations of the public opinion polls."
here's what Ziggy says,
Pushing thru the market square, so many mothers sighing
News had just come over, we had five years left to cry in
News guy wept and told us, earth was really dying
Cried so much his face was wet, then I knew he was not lying
I heard telephones, opera house, favourite melodies
I saw boys, toys electric irons and t.v.s
My brain hurt like a warehouse, it had no room to spare
I had to cram so many things to store everything in there
And all the fat-skinny people, and all the tall-short people
And all the nobody people, and all the somebody people
I never thought Id need so many people

A girl my age went off her head, hit some tiny children
If the black hadnt a-pulled her off, I think she would have killed them
A soldier with a broken arm, fixed his stare to the wheels of a cadillac
A cop knelt and kissed the feet of a priest, and a queer threw up at the sight of that

I think I saw you in an ice-cream parlour, drinking milk shakes cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine, dont think
You knew you were in this song
And it was cold and it rained so I felt like an actor
And I thought of ma and I wanted to get back there
Your face, your race, the way that you talk
I kiss you, youre beautiful, I want you to walk

Weve got five years, stuck on my eyes
Five years, what a surprise
Weve got five years, my brain hurts a lot
Five years, thats all we've got
Weve got five years, what a surprise
Five years, stuck on my eyes
Weve got five years, my brain hurts a lot
Five years, thats all we've got
Weve got five years, stuck on my eyes
Five years, what a surprise
Weve got five years, my brain hurts a lot
Five years, thats all we've got
Weve got five years, what a surprise
Weve got five years, stuck on my eyes
Weve got five years, my brain hurts a lot

It's bad enough that George Bush was completely befuddled by the prospect that gas prices could rise to $4 a gallon this spring.  Remember, a price jump like that will have a real impact on the household budget of working American families. When asked about this prospect, Bush called it "interesting," more like "catastrophic." Bush claimed - despite having an entire Council of Economic Advisors - that he "hadn't heard that."  We think he should be walking the streets of Washington looking for gas stations if no one in the White House will tell him how working Americans are struggling. But we just about lost it when - just a few minutes later during the exact same press conference - Bush refused to answer a question he didn't like, citing a pretty amazing reason.I, frankly, have been focused elsewhere," Bush said, "like on gasoline prices."

'Mentally tired' Favre tells Packers his playing career is over

Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has decided to retire.

"I know I can still play, but it's like I told my wife, I'm just tired mentally. I'm just tired," Favre, a 17-year veteran and three-time NFL MVP, told ESPN's Chris Mortensen in a voice mail message. "If I felt like coming back -- and Deanna [his wife] and I talked about this -- the only way for me to be successful would be to win a Super Bowl. To go to the Super Bowl and lose, would almost be worse than anything else. Anything less than a Super Bowl win would be unsuccessful," Favre said in the message. "I know it shouldn't feel unsuccessful, but the only way to come back and make that be the right decision would be to come back and win a Super Bowl. And honestly, the odds of that, they're tough. Those are big shoes for me to fill, and I guess it was a challenge I wasn't up for. " Packers coach Mike McCarthy told Mortensen that Favre called him Monday night to tell him his decision. He also said Favre had first mentioned the possibility of retiring on Thursday. "He called me last night to tell me he'd thought this thing through and he said, 'Well, you know how it is,' and 'I'm just tired and I just think it's time,' " McCarthy said. "And I did tell him last Thursday when he mentioned retirement for the first time, I told him while we talked that he did have to trust his heart."
The Gunslinger Retires
________________________________________
Brett Favre leaves the NFL with his name atop several career passing categories. In 2007, he set the record for passing TDs (442), passing yards (61,655) and wins by a starting QB (160) and interceptions (288). Including the playoffs, he played in 275 consecutive games.

Most TD passes  TDs
Brett Favre 442
Dan Marino 420
Fran Tarkenton 342
Peyton Manning 306
Most passing yards
Favre 61,655
Marino 61,361
John Elway 51,475
Warren Moon 49,325
QB wins by starter
Favre 160
Elway 148
Marino 147
Tarkenton 125

The news was a surprise to at least one of Favre's teammates. Most players expected Favre to return after a successful 2007 season. "I just saw it come across the TV," Packers wide receiver Koren Robinson said, when reached on his cell phone by The Associated Press. Favre, 38, had made his annual flirtation with retirement a winter tradition in Wisconsin. He has taken weeks and even months to make his decision after recent seasons, with Cheeseheads hanging on his every word. But unlike the final game of the 2006 season -- when Favre provided a cliffhanger by getting choked up in a television interview as he walked off the field in Chicago, only to return once again -- nearly everyone assumed he would be back. A sure-fire first-ballot Hall of Famer, Favre put the Packers back among the NFL's elite. He retires with 5,377 career completions in 8,758 attempts for 61,655 yards, 442 touchdowns and 288 interceptions, passing Dan Marino's touchdown mark last season. As a player Favre was known for his durability, his willingness to take risks and turn broken plays into big gains, as his love for the game that was evident in the way he played. He led the Packers to Super Bowls in 1996 and 1997, winning it all on his first try in Super Bowl XXXI, and was named to nine Pro Bowls. In Super Bowl XXXI, a win over the New England Patriots, Favre went 14 of 27 for 246 yards and two touchdowns. A year later, in Super Bowl XXXII, he went 25 of 42 for 256 yards, three TDS and an interception in a loss to the Denver Broncos. He finished his career on a streak of 253 consecutive regular season starts -- 275 including playoff games. Favre's agent, Bus Cook, told Mortensen that as of Tuesday morning, there were no plans for Favre to hold a news conference. "I talked to Brett this morning and I told him, 'nobody forced you to make this decision to retire, but the flip side is nobody encouraged you to play,' " Cook told Mortensen. "Two years ago, Ted [Thompson, the Packers' GM] encouraged him to play, but there was nothing this time around from them offering encouragement or him to come back."
"He has had one of the greatest careers in the history of the National Football League, and he is able to walk away from the game on his own terms. Not many players are able to do that," the team said in a statement. "The Packers owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude. He has given Packers fans 16 years of wonderful memories, a Super Bowl championship among them, that will live on forever." Favre, who returned for the 2007 season when many thought he should have left the game, had a career renaissance in his final season and led Green Bay to the NFC Championship Game, where the Packers lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants in overtime. Favre passed Marino for the all-time completions record in 2006, and in 2007 set NFL records for wins by a QB, touchdown passes, pass attempts, passing yards and interceptions. He claimed the NFL record for career quarterback wins with his 149th victory in Week 2, passed Marino for the TD record in Week 4 and overtook Marino's career passing yards record in Week 15. Mortensen reported that Favre, who wanted the Packers to obtain Randy Moss when he was a free agent last season, had once again pushed for Moss to join the Packers.
Favre had spoken to Moss late last week and was willing to commit to more than just this season if Moss and the Packers could come to an agreement. But the Packers did not pursue Moss, who re-signed with the Patriots on Monday. In his voice mail message to Mortensen, Favre said the Packers' lack of interest in Moss was not the driving reason why he retired.
"This is not about the Packers and who they got or who they didn't get. I get along fine with [Thompson] and I get along great with [McCarthy]. Do I agree with them all the time? No. But the bottom line is, none of that stuff affected my decision," Favre said.
Favre as a starter
Brett Favre started in the NFL for 16 of his 17 career seasons. A look at how his numbers:

Category Stats
Reg season W-L 160-93
Losing Seasons 1
Playoff Appearances 11
Playoff W-L 12-10
Division Titles 7
Super Bowls 2 (one win)

Surrounded by an underrated group of wide receivers who proved hard to tackle after the catch, Favre had a career-high completion percentage of 66.5 in 2007. He threw for 4,155 yards, 28 touchdowns and only 15 interceptions. It was a remarkable turnaround from the past two seasons. In 2005, Favre's final season under former head coach Mike Sherman, he threw a career-worst 29 interceptions as the Packers went 4-12. In 2006 he completed 56 percent of his passes and threw for as many touchdowns (18) as interceptions. Given Favre's career resurgence, it was widely assumed that he was leaning toward returning for the 2008 season. He even said as much just before the Packers' Jan. 12 divisional playoff game against Seattle, telling his hometown newspaper that he wasn't approaching the game as if it would be his last and was more optimistic than in years past about returning.

"For the first time in three years, I haven't thought this could be my last game," Favre told the Biloxi [Miss.] Sun Herald. "I would like to continue longer." The Falcons selected Favre out of Southern Miss with the 33rd pick of the 1991 NFL draft. He was then traded to Green Bay for the 17th overall pick in the 1992 draft and appeared in his first Packers game on Sept. 20 of that year, replacing injured starter Dan Majkowski and leading Green Bay to a 24-23 come-from-behind victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. He was named the starter later in the season, a role he never relinquished. By nature of his style of play -- he was willing to roll the dice on long throws and able to force passes into tight coverage thanks to a strong right arm -- Favre had a flair for the dramatic on the field. But his off-the-field life has been full of drama as well. He nearly died in a car accident in Mississippi in 1990, before his senior season at Southern Mississippi. In May 1996, Favre acknowledged he had developed an addiction to the painkiller Vicodin and sought treatment. In 2004, his wife Deanna announced she was fighting breast cancer, for which she was successfully treated. That same year, his brother in law was killed in an ATV accident. And in 2005, Hurricane Katrina destroyed his boyhood home in Kiln, Miss., and damaged his current home in Hattiesburg. Favre's off-field and on-field lives collided Dec. 21, 2003, when his father suffered a fatal heart attack in his home town of Kiln, Miss. The next night, Favre chose to play the Packers' scheduled "Monday Night Football" game against the Raiders and threw for 399 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-7 win.
Thanks Brett...we'll miss you!

Theatre!
Moon Over Buffalo
i swear these productions get better and better each time! this was written by a local playwrite, making it even more impressive.
Hilarious and full of revolving doors and plottwists, this piece is one of the best i have eever seen!
CONGRATS to writer Ken Ludwig and Director Susan Edgren and the amazing cast, especially first-timer Amber Fait.
i used to see her behind the counter at a local gas station and KNEW she had something special to offer...
i didn't know it was THIS, FANTASTIC!
Linda Garski was also INCREDIBLE as the 'glue' that held all acts together...and female lead Gail Lundberg was amazing.
and, of course, the MAIN MAN Mike Edgren, who blew me away in Escanaba by the Moonlight, stole the show with his lead prowess once again.
ABSOLUTELY STELLAR

The renters who lived in the home at 2311 100th St. S. were Lizardz' drummer Travis's mother and sister.
They lost all belongings and their dog.

Smalltown stoooopidity
again WR's small mindset doesn't cease to amaze me as i heard this bit of garbage spit from an idot's mouth
like drrol from a swine,
"A bitch and nigger, that gives me no choice at all."
(well at least he didn't mention the fossil-LOL)

2/3/8
18-1
there IS justice in the world!
yawner of a game until that AMAZINGLY COOL upset at the end
(GO Underdogs!)
when the Wild Card NFC chumpchangers turned it on to be the Cheatriots!

Petty was good as halftime food - opened and closed strong, was a bit tired in the middle
(especially 'Free Fallin'...booooooooooooring!),
but it's ALWAYS GREAT to see Mike Campbell, one of rock's greatest living guitarists!
in fact he saved 'won't back down' with his slide.
'twas cool to see him take some chances at the end of 'runnin down a dream', something he doesn't normally do,
even though they didn't quite work..that's my mike!

my fave halftime performances of recent years are still McCartney and Prince

2/1/8
Sick as a dog!
Please, I just got to talk to you
Please, a getcha your head out of the loo
Please, and we're a long, long way from home
Please, you'd turn a young man's face to stone
[Chorus]
Sick as a dog, what's your story
Sick as a dog, a cat got your tongue
Sick as a dog, you'll be sorry
Sick as a dog, you're really ain't that young

Please, you were much to my surprise
Please, you're the lady in disguise
Please, you're the only a friend I got
Please, you'll be the last to see me rot
[Chorus]
Please, it's a shame you're so refined
Please, you was the last thing on my mind
Please, don't be late to take it light
Please, you're gonna bay into the night
[Chorus]
Take it light/Take it light/Take it light/Take it light
Say goodnight
Take it light

Asshole of the Moment
Bill O'Reilly

O’Reilly: ‘There’s not many’ homeless veterans. On last night’s (1/16/8) O’Reilly Factor, host Bill O’Reilly challenged John Edwards’ claim that 200,000 veterans “will go to sleep under bridges and on grates” because they are homeless. O’Reilly said, “They may be out there, but there’s not many of them out there. Okay? … If you know where’s a veteran, sleeping under a bridge, you call me immediately, and we will make sure that man does not do it.” The Washington Post checked into Edwards’ claim and reported that the Department of Veterans Affairs does indeed report that about 195,000 veterans are “homeless on any given night.”

UPDATE: The Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America have launched a petition to
tell Bill is was wrong.

Talk show host Ed Schutlz has taken action by helping Vets and showing
The Asshole of the Moment
that there ARE plenty of these people that need help.
Hey Asshole, you told Ed you'd help these vets out so NOW DO IT!

1/15/8
National Tresure
Book of Suckrets
one might think that, with all its conspiracy theories and wild adventures,
i'd love this movie but it was a TERRIBLE waste of time, even as an improved decision.
an awful script combines with cardboard cutout acting and terrible execution to provide one of the worst pieces of crap to ever hit the screen.
awful dialogue combuines with forced comedy, NO chemistry between actors
(even Jon Voight sucks, something i thought was impossible),
and a ridiculous plot that one can figure out WAY before the characters do!

1 outta 10-AWFUL!
(and that's being kind)

MICHIGAN Politics
Romney wins (could there be ANYONE MORE FAKE than this snakeoil salesman?!)
of course, michigan's schtik was even more meaningless than the other 2 as
Dennis filed lawsuits and Michigan broke rules.
this system is so antiquated!

McCain and Clinton score in New Hampshire
the archaic system proves its inadequecies again while making non-Iowans/NewHampshirites feel like 4/5ths Americans.
* how 'bout ALL STATES have primaries at this same time and abort the caucuses *

1/7/8
We had an EXCELLENT session with Marc Golde at Rock Garden Studios in Appleton this past Saturday cutting The Beatles' "Rain" for a CD entitled "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Mike" which will be available at Mike Boyle's Benefit at Waverly Beach in Menasha on Friday 2/22/8.
We did three takes and went the the first as it had more energy and just felt right.
John got to play a REAL B-3 though a Leslie and then a REAL grand piano while
Dean played on an AMAZINGLY INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL drum kit!
Geppy was the harmony KING as he nailed ALL backing vocals, putting up a Rundgre-esque wall of vocals and holding an amazing closing note for 16 bars to FLOOR all in the room!
Jeff nailed guitar and vocal lines right off the bat.
Rough mixes are in hand and we are excited about the finished product.

(more photos at photos page)

Unfortunately The Weavils will NOT be on the bill for the benefit. Instead this will include the 'Big Three' in Appleton,
Vic Ferrari, Boogie and the Yoyos, and Boxkar.

Due to some personal constrictions, The Weavils will do VERY FEW SHOWS this year so catch what you can.
This does NOT mean the band is splitting but just taking it easy this year...
THANKS for your continued interest, patience, and support.

AVPR
i don't usually bite on such schlock but was lookin' for a way to be entertained for a bit so i hit the matinee.
my buddy Ron suggested i watch the first one on dvd and he was right as i REALLY (and surprisingly) enjoyed it but this sequel was almost a video game, devoid of any feeling and slim plotline to say the least, i almost left but am glad i hung around for the comedic line of the year so far,
"the government doesn't lie to people!",
as said by a woman about to choose the wrong path (the gov't's path) and die.
5-1/2 stars (outta 10) not a COMPLETE waste of time. i did like the inlcusion of 'michelle', formerly of 24, although she was uased simply to stand and look tough and NOT answer questions (what's with THAT?)

1/2/8
