Monster/Suicide/America
Steppenwolf 1969
Words and music by John Kay, Jerry Edmonton, Nick St. Nicholas and Larry Byrom
from the FANTASTIC LP "Monster"
(Monster)
Once the religious, the hunted and weary
Chasing the promise of freedom and hope
Came to this country to build a new vision
Far from the reaches of kingdom and pope
Like good Christians, some would burn the witches
Later some got slaves to gather riches

But still from near and far to seek America
They came by thousands to court the wild
And she just patiently smiled and bore a child
To be their spirit and guiding light And once the ties with the crown had been broken
Westward in saddle and wagon it went
And 'til the railroad linked ocean to ocean
Many the lives which had come to an end
While we bullied, stole and bought our a homeland
We began the slaughter of the red man But still from near and far to seek America
They came by thousands to court the wild
And she just patiently smiled and bore a child
To be their spirit and guiding light The blue and grey they stomped it
They kicked it just like a dog
And when the war over They stuffed it just like a hog
And though the past has it's share of injustice
Kind was the spirit in many a way
But it's protectors and friends have been sleeping
Now it's a monster and will not obey
(Suicide)
The spirit was freedom and justice
And it's keepers seem generous and kind
It's leaders were supposed to serve the country
But now they won't pay it no mind
'Cause the people grew fat and got lazy
And now their vote is a meaningless joke
They babble about law and order
But it's all just an echo of what they've been told
Yeah, there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into a noose
And it just sits there watchin'
Our cities have turned into jungles
And corruption is stranglin' the land
The police force is watching the people
And the people just can't understand
We don't know how to mind our own business
'Cause the whole worlds got to be just like us
Now we are fighting a war over there
No matter who's the winner
We can't pay the cost
'Cause there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into a noose
And it just sits there watching
(America)
America where are you now?
Don't you care about your sons and daughters?
Don't you know we need you now
We can't fight alone against the monster

!!!! SWINE FLU NEWS !!!!
Flu Special:
On Monday night, George Noory returned to Los Angeles and hosted a special edition of C2C with examination and analysis of the recent swine flu outbreak. 2nd hour guest, Dr. Gary Ridenour suggested that this virus could further mutate and become even more dangerous. We could see mass school closings and work outages in the U.S., he said, and in a worst-case scenario, 5-15 million people could die. He estimated there was a 40% chance that the new virus was man-made, and was released either accidentally or intentionally.
Appearing in the latter half of the show, Alex Jones and Stephen Quayle both agreed the new swine virus was not natural. It's a "genetically altered bioweapon," possibly being "beta-tested in the field" to target specific races, Quayle contended. Jones cited experts in the field, pointing toward the virus being designed, and he noted how unusual it is for a flu virus to start out of season, and not come from the East.
Quayle suggested the virus may be part of a global plan to reduce the population, and that the mysterious deaths of microbiologists in recent years could be connected to this outbreak-- scientists who could help stop a pandemic were taken out. Jones posited the idea that flu fears could be deliberate hype by the government in order to distract the public from other issues.

went to AHS' interpretation of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
including Lizardz' "Guitar King" Milo with Mom. unfortunately i had to send the following,
i am always glad to support AHS musicals so I excitedly attended Friday, March 27's performance of Joseph. The band and conductor were FABULOUS, costuming was EXCELLENT, choreography was GREAT, and stage design was GOOD. THANKS to all that put so much time and effort into this production. i have always been of the philosophy that theatre should tell the story better than it's ever been told before and herein lies the problem. the story was never told as the lyrics could not be heard due to an incompetent in charge of audio. the production was singlehandedly ruined by the front-of-house sound "engineer" who obviously has NO IDEA what he is doing. one simple look at his EQ explained why my ears still hurt today. he attempted to force ALL the sound through the tweeters, ignoring the mid-range where most vocals exist.
this painful exercise in stupidity forced the story to be unheard.
sadly, due to this ONE person, this was the worst musical production i have ever attended-and i have seen some 'flounders' over the years.
i realize the soundperson works many hours on a volunteer basis but this is someone that NEEDS to be spoken to and/or replaced. i suggest you look to a local/regional pro that may give you a discount rate due to your school/non-profit status.
this is proof that one gets what one pays for, in this case, Nothing!
PLEASE feel free to forward this to any/all people "in the loop" (including the "engineer/soundperson") and thanks to all the people who put in countless hours of work only to have it ruined by one amature. this will NOT stop me from coming to musicals in the future unless it's just as AWFULLY mixed next time.
THANK YOU for your time,
jeff

Cleartone Strings
Testimonial
I have tried many different strings over the decades of playing and performing (live and in the studio) but have never found something that could bend so well and stay in tune over multiple shows, until i found Cleartone. I never really paid much attention to the brand of strings i used until i discovered these. The way they hold their tone and tuning, even while bending WAY outside the normal realm, continues to amaze me. The durability - whether in a smokey bar, basement studio, outdoors, or a dusty theatre - is astounding! They also seem to last three times as long as other brands i have used! The residue from my hands has destroyed strings in the past but this has not been a problem with Cleartone, and that is something that amazes me.
I have also found that it takes A LOT to break them (and i have tried)!
They also carry great tone from low to high - and that's quite incredible.

THANK YOU for making such a high-quality product and teaching me that string brand can make a HUGE difference.
